Brekyn hasn't sucked his thumb for a week now and I really don't see that habit coming back since he doesn't put his fingers in his mouth anymore at all, so I'm calling this habit done!!!
I bought this stuff called Malva Stop from the dentist about 6 months ago and when I painted it on his finger mails it didn't work then so I gave up on it hoping his thumb sucking habit would stop or at least lessen.
It did lessen a bit but he still had that thumb in his mouth mostly at night. So a week ago after I took him to the dentist to check out his crooked tooth ( that he injured during camping) the dentist told me again that his teeth are being affected and so is the shape of his mouth. I really didn't want him to have buck teeth or look like a hillbilly so I tried the Malva Stop again while he was taking his nap.
When he woke up he stuck his thumb in his mouth and threw up a little on my bed. Not cool!! HE tried his thumb again after I cleaned him and my bed up and he gagged like I'd never seen a baby gag before. My first thought was, "Oh good it's working!" My next thought was," My poor baby, I hope he sleeps through the night and doesn't cry and have withdrawals."
I watched the rest of the day as he tried eating his food and gagging a little but his thumb never went back into his mouth. Was this too good to be true?
After a week of watching him and no fingers in his mouth since I'm pretty sure the thumb sucking is OVER!!!
He was so stinkin' cute when he sucked his thumb!!
Now he's growing up and becoming a BIG boy. No thumb!
