Today was Justin's Valentine's Day party at school. He was so excited to hand out his valentine's to everyone. I was just excited to be there to see him and help out with the class. He had a very fun day. First they got to color a valentine picture for home room time and then the teacher passed out conversation hearts for their math lesson.
They got to sort all the colors and then make a graph to see how many colors they had. Then they read a cute valentine's story and while they were doing that Me and another volunteer ( Javis's mom) helped get the cookie decorating stuff ready for each kid.
Each child got 2 huge sugar cookies to decorate. One cookie had to be decorated symmetrically for another math lesson. The other cookie could be decorated how ever they wanted. They had the choice of chocolate or white frosting with Cheerios's, fruit loops, M&M's, chocolate chips, marshmallows and pretzels.
After they were done with that they were allowed to pass out their valentine's. Everyone was so excited. Some kept giving the valentine's to the person it was going to instead of putting it in their box. All in all each kid got a ton of candy and goodies that you get when Valentine's are passed out.
It was also fun to see every one's Valentine boxes and how they decorated them. Some you could tell the parents totally did it on their own and some you could tell just the child did it. Justin and I decorated his box together. I cut out hearts and we both glued them and he colored over the whole dang thing.
At least he liked it, that's what matters most!
I'm so glad Jeromy was able to get off work early so I could be there for Justin. Thanks honey!
I'm glad you had a fun day Justin! I love volunteering at your school and love you very much.
Oh! By the way the little girl in the first picture came up to me and gave me a BIG hug! She was so excited to see me back in the class room again. I was happy and shocked at the same time that she gave me a hug. I didn't know I was that big of a help. Kids are so fun at this age.
